On the Pyramid of the Sun, some valuable samples were taken on site no. 18. At a depth of 3.21 meters in a mixed soil-clay layer, organic material was found and samples taken. At the depth of 3.3 m, samples of clay mixed with organic matter and samples of rocks found through the sieving process were collected. Also, in section B of this site, several stones were taken as samples.
On the Pyramid of the Moon, the expansion of site no. 4 continued. Exploratory sites B1 and B2 were further expanded, and the exposed sections of B5 were cleaned of soil.
On Friday, August 4, Amir Moustafa, an Egyptian-American student at the American University in Cairo, came to see and volunteer at the pyramids for six days. During his stay, he will write a feature story on the pyramids for the student paper he helped to found, Roots.
Today, August 6, fifteen volunteers from the Red Cross of Visoko helped with the excavations on the Pyramid of the Moon, cleaning the sandstone plates on site no. 1. Also visiting today were Spanish representatives of EUFOR.
