On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Barcelona (Spain), the winners of the most successful amusement, water, theme, and family parks in Europe and the Middle East were announced. In the final stage, after numerous park applications, the nominated parks remained—those judged the best in their categories. The organizer was Park World, the world’s largest association of parks, and the event was held under the title Park World Excellence Award 2025.
Among the best parks were multi-million-dollar parks from Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Italy, Denmark, as well as from Dubai and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman.
The categories covered:
- Large parks (worth several billion dollars),
- Smaller multi-million-dollar parks,
- Parks with millions of visitors,
- Regional parks,
- Best water parks,
- Best theme parks,
- Parks with the best rides,
- Family amusement parks dedicated to children,
- Parks with the best reconstructions, etc.
For example, some parks had improvements worth as much as €600 million.
In such competition, as the only park from the Balkans, the Archaeological-Tourist-Sports Park Ravne 2 was nominated in the “Green Initiative” category among the four most successful parks in Europe. Three nominations went to parks that had fully or partially switched to solar energy. The fourth nomination, which referred to Park Ravne 2, was highlighted as an example of ecological improvements, where swampy land was transformed into a beautiful park with tens of thousands of planted deciduous and coniferous trees, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, and a variety of flowers.
And although Park Ravne 2 was not the formal winner this year, the fact that it entered as a nominated park in such competition is an incredible success. The award ceremony was attended by the park’s founder, Dr. Sam Osmanagich, on behalf of the Foundation Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, which maintains and develops the park.
