“International Summer Camp for Volunteers” Program (MRAV) Replaced by Exciting New Program: ‘Bosnian Pyramid Expeditions with Volunteering”
After five successful years, the International Volunteer Summer Camp Program is shifting gears.
The Board of Directors of the Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation has decided that this year, 2015, a new volunteer program will be put into place. And we’re very excited about it!
First, we will say that these last five years of Summer Camp volunteer contributions have been invaluable. Over 2,000 volunteers from 60 countries have donated their good energy, between 2010 and 2014, in the fields of archaeology and other fields to assist the Bosnian Pyramids Project in its incredible journey into the depths of ancient history.
Now, based on an in-depth analysis of the experience and suggestions of five years of volunteers, the Foundation team has decided that a modernized version of the MRAV Summer Camp volunteer program will be implemented in 2015: “Bosnian Pyramids Expeditions with Volunteering.”
The new expeditions arrangement is a eleven-day/ten-night package that includes:
1) Volunteering for four days to help the Foundation with archaeological excavations, under the supervision of archaeologists and geologists of the Foundation;
2) A tour of the prehistoric sites of Daorson in Stolac, the Stone Spheres Park in Zavidovici, and the pyramids and tunnels in Visoko;
3) A tour of the Kravica waterfall, the stecaks in Stolac, and the Dervish House – Tekki in Blagaj; and
4) A tour of the cities of Mostar and Sarajevo and their UNESCO sites.
This expeditions package will continue the unique tradition of archaeological volunteering, giving opportunities to nonprofessionals to participate in archaeological discovery in the Bosnian Pyramid Complex, and at the same time give volunteers the chance to see a great deal of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ancient sites and natural beauty. Of course, the Foundation will continue to maintain relations with local organizations like. Lunches will be organized in local communities with local, organic, native Bosnia food.
Ten such 11-day expeditions will be organized between June and September, 2015.
Hosts for the Foundation will be young professionals, coordinator guide Aydin Ahmetspahić, archaeologist Anela Podrug, and geologist Meira Kozlo.
Sign-up for the expeditions begins February 10, 2015, by emailing the Foundation at:
