The entrance to the Ravne Tunnels entrance exists 2.5km northwest of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. The tunnels form a complex network of interconnected underground passages. At some point in the past these tunnels had been meticulously backfilled with loose geological rubble.
Since 2006, Dr Sam and the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation has been excavating these passages, revealing more and more of the tunnel network each year. Inside the tunnels have been found many drywalls, simple constructions built out of rounded riverbed stones. These walls are always found at junction points between blocked up passages. Who blocked the passages up and built the drywalls, as well as why, has yet to be determined.
In July 2020, the latest discovery was made inside the Ravne3 section of the Tunnels network. A new drywall, the likes of which has not been seen before anywhere else within the Ravne complex.
