Undoubtedly, one of the most popular series in the world is ‘Ancient Aliens’ on the science-documentary television History Channel. A record sixteenth season is underway. In these films, the phenomena of pyramids around the world, megalithic sites, and the rise of ancient civilizations are analyzed in a popular and creative way. It tries to answer the questions of who are the real builders of mysterious archaeological sites, when they were built, with what tools and what was their real purpose. Weaknesses in the explanations of archaeologists and historians are analyzed and new solutions are offered, and the possibility that the knowledge was brought from more advanced extraterrestrial civilizations is opened up.
In the first three seasons, in several episodes, the researcher and scientist Dr. Sam Osmanagich participated, who spoke about the pyramids in Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Mexico and Peru, but also about the phenomenon of megalithic circles such as Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circles, and stone balls all over the world, especially those found in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is still the first and only participation of an expert from the Balkans, from Slovenia, through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia or Bulgaria in this series which has gained enormous popularity on all continents with millions of views.
The producers are preparing the next season and have decided to invite Dr. Osmanagich again to speak on two topics. The first is the phenomenon of stone balls, especially in light of the discovery of the largest stone ball in the world found in Podubravlje (Zavidovići, Bosnia), then in other locations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but also in Costa Rica, Mexico, Egypt, Croatia, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and elsewhere.
In the second show, the Mayan civilization and their advanced astronomical, architectural, construction, artistic, mathematical, calendar and agricultural knowledge were thoroughly analyzed. Special attention is paid to their obsession with the star constellation Pleiades, connections with the Sun and Venus. They also talked about the mathematical and hieroglyphic knowledge of the Mayans and the twenty-one calendar of this civilization from Central America. The newly discovered city of El Mirador in the north of Guatemala and the largest Mayan pyramid in the world, which was not built in the classic but much earlier period, was a topic of interest, because it demolishes the previous assumptions about this civilization and its supposed evolutionary development.
This series features independent and mainstream experts mainly from the USA and Great Britain, and occasionally from Mexico, Peru, France, Egypt or Germany. Reinviting the founder of the Foundation ‘Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ shows how much his work in the past two and a half decades is appreciated. The interview was recorded in London on October 11, 2023, and new episodes are expected on the schedule of the History channel in the 2024 season.
