From August 25 – 30, 2008, something unique will happen in the capital city of Sarajevo. The first ever International Scientific Conference for the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids (ICBP) will take place at the Congress Hall of Municipality in Old Town Sarajevo. The Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation-started three years ago by Semir Osmanagić to sponsor excavation and research of the Bosnian Pyramids, and other monuments in Bosnia-Herzegovina-is finally being given recognition from the world scientific community for its sponsorship and coordination of scientific research of the Bosnian Pyramids-the world’s largest, and the first European pyramids, discovered in Visoko Valley (aka the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids).

After the first three seasons of excavations in the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids-also the location of the first European Pyramids-the Foundation has gathered enough scientific evidence, through the efforts of scientists and professionals from around the world, to be presented at the ICBP. Leading researchers for the pyramid project believe that this compelling evidence will verify that the pyramid hills in Visoko Valley were shaped by man many thousands of years ago.
"The monumental stone structures that are partially dug out (including the unknown ancient symbols engraved on the megalithic blocks) and a network of the underground tunnels connecting the pyramids help us to recognize the remains of a great masterpiece left behind by an unknown civilization dating from ancient European eras." Dr. Nabil Swelim
Professor Nabil Swelim of Cairo-a triple PhD in Egyptology and Archaeology, and the discoverer of four pyramids in Egypt, will serve as the Chairman and President of the Conference. Dr. Swelim will be joined by fellow Chairmen, Professor Oleg Khavroshkin, from the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in Moscow and Dr. Ivan Simatovic, of Zagreb, Croatia. The Co-Chairmen Committee will be comprised of professors and professionals in archaeology, Egyptology, geology, mathematics and other sciences from such diverse countries as Egypt, Russia, Poland, Hungary, UK, Germany, Brazil, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the USA, including renowned Egyptologist, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Aly, Archeological Geologist, Dr. Aly Abdullah Barakat, and Mr. Philip Coppens, author of book The New Pyramid Age.
Topics will include: comparison of the Bosnian Pyramids with other pyramids around the world and presenting evidence from various research findings in the scientific disciplines of Geodesy, Geology, Geophysics, Geoarchaeology, Archaeogenetics, and Agropedology. Other topics will include the impact of prehistoric human intervention in the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids, the deciphering of prehistoric writings found in the tunnels, and the results of age-dating processes conducted on various artifacts found in the Valley.
Scientists, experts, and guests are invited to attend the conference and are encouraged to visit the four archaeological locations in Visoko (30 km from Sarajevo) a couple of days prior to the ICBP conference. A scientific workshop will be given by Dr. Swelim on the second afternoon of the Conference to discuss what the Bosnian Pyramids are and how they were built. There will be an open-floor discussion.
