The “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” Foundation Board of Directors has decided on the Assembly Session held on July 4, 2017, to employ the Foundation’s teams for free on clearing of the site “Luka” in Visoko.
Even if this isn’t an archaeological location on the territory of Visoko Municipality, the Board of Directors has, however, decided in the interest of Visoko citizens and Foundation’s guests from all around the world, to begin with the preparation of the potentially attractive touristic destination. However, “Luka” is best known as the location of the football stadium and the former swimming spot at Fojnica River.
Because the location was neglected for years and the increase in the numbers of river polluters this area today is an illegal junkyard and the city’s disgrace
Visoko Municipality is the owner of more than 40 acres of land by the river and decided to begin with the landscaping of the site, and after that, creating the project for the establishment of the sports and recreational centre and the campsite.
In the first phase, the employees of the Public Communal Service “Visoko”, Public Company “Groblja” from Visoko and the Foundation are employed together with the Municipality. The works have begun on August 4, 2017.
The Foundation employed own workers where the manual work was needed. The trimmers, chainsaws and scythe were used to remove the grass, weed and bushes and also used to shape the treetops on the Municipal land. The trees on the river bank are brought to a fair condition by removing the dry and lower branches.
The Foundation has employed the tractor with a mowing machine so the stadium lawn had decent looks with the low cut grass. Also, the Foundation has hired the excavator to remove large quantities of junk, concrete waste and glass at several locations. The Public Communal Service “Visoko” is removing the piles of dried branches and junk.
After a very long time, a safe access to the River Fojnica is now enabled. However, there is a lot of work left to do on a manual removal of the junk around and in the river. Also, the drainage of pool water is performed at the moment, but also resolving the cases of illegal junk yards and cesspools. By resolving these problems the Municipality of Visoko and the Public Communal Service “Visoko” will finish the first phase of the terrain clearing.
These operations are the example of a good cooperation between several Municipal organizations and the Foundation in order to create a better living environment.
We are hoping that we won’t wait long for the following phases which will result in the end with the new sports and recreational centre, car camp, clean river and swimming spots and become an important step in the future touristic development of Visoko.
