The hard working men of the “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” Foundation are working and putting an effort that the locations visited by the guests are always safe, but also to „conquer“ new meters in the Tunnels Ravne which mean getting closer to the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. A hard working team of three men, Sadžid, Mubekir and Faik, we’ve met during the time of rest and used the opportunity to have a short conversation. The less known thing is that the oldest member of the team, Faik, has earned his retirement working in four mines in Zenica and Kakanj, so we spoke with him about the safety aspects of the guests visiting the Tunnels Ravne.
– My entire life I’m in the mining business working in four mines in Zenica and Kakanj where I have earned my retirement. The way we perform the safety inside the tunnel is such that it guarantees the 100% safety of the visitors and us working in every moment. This is because after we clear new meters of the existing tunnels we install the supporting structure, which guarantees the safety and disables the dispersal of the material. In terms of the substructure, besides the new one we are installing, we also continuously replace the old one since we don’t let things just happen and as soon as we notice the humidity is destroying the existing support we replace it. All of this contributes to the maximum safety of the visitors, volunteers and workers. – Faik the Foundation worker explained, the man who has spent his life working in the mines, and today is applying the experience gained in the Foundation operations.
However, this team somehow acts out of the shadow. Usually, you can’t see or meet them unless you enter the Prehistorical underground labyrinth of the Tunnels Ravne. Also, this is not a guarantee that you will find these hardworking men, because their main task is the clear new sections of the tunnels, installing the supporting structure and securing the site, therefore, about them you can find more when you see the cleared and accessible corridors of the tunnels, but also the arranged locations of the Archaeological-Tourist Park „Ravne 2“.
It was interesting to talk with Mubekir Zilić because it is a young man, who besides working in the Foundation is also engaged in an interesting sports activity – arm wrestling. He said he participated in several competitions and his results give him hope to get on the winning podium soon on the state and regional competitions.
