Participants of the ICBP 2011 Conference visited central Bosnian town of Zavidovici and stone spheres site.
Non-profit “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” Foundation declared this site, which contains 40 stone spheres, an Archaeological park in September 2011. Declaration was signed by Mayor of Zavidovici, Foundation’s representatives and mayors of several other towns in Bosnia that had stone spheres.
This site has become attractive destination for the researchers and tourists.
Foundation has performed analysis of the polished stone spheres in Zavidovici proving that they were poured in moulds in distant past. Some other sites in Bosnia have shaped stone spheres, made from granite and volcanic rock.
Bosnian stone spheres add to the mystery of similar phenomena in Costa Rica, Mexico and Easter Island.
