In July 2023, at the invitation of the “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” Foundation, geologist Prof. Dr. Yousuf Kagan Kadioglu and geophysicist Dr. Eren Sahiner visited Visoko, Bosnia-Herzegovina. They came from the Faculty of Engineering of the Ankara State University, Turkey.
They were hosted by Dr. Sam Osmanagich, head of the Bosnian pyramids research project, and field archaeologist Mr. Sc. Amna Agić.
The team visited the main research locations: archaeological probes at the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon and the tumulus in Vratnica, as well as the prehistoric underground tunnels of Ravne and Ravne 3.
The aim of the visit was to carry out sampling from all these locations in order to determine the age of the constructions through luminescent analysis. Planned activities were carried out successfully during the one-week visit. In some locations, samples were taken during the day (for example in the tunnels), and in others at night so that they would not be exposed to the sunlight (on the pyramids). The first results are expected after the summer holidays.
