Dr. Sam Osmanagich conducted a research visit to Romania in October 2025. During this expedition, he visited the site known as the “Šona Pyramids.” In existing literature, several incorrect assumptions have been repeated, including the following:
- The term “Šona Pyramids” does not accurately describe their geometric form, as none of the eight elevations possess the geometry of a four-sided pyramid.
- The term “tumuli” is also inappropriate, since none of the elevations have a regular conical shape.
- The claimed “height of 30 meters” is incorrect, as confirmed by Dr. Osmanagić’s precise field measurements.
- The description of the elevations as “made of mud and clay” is also inaccurate. By entering one of the inner tunnels, Dr. Osmanagić verified that these are stone-built structures.
- Geological claims that these are purely natural formations are likewise incorrect, as nature does not typically form eight elevations on flat meadow terrain, arranged in two parallel rows of four, six of which have a nearly identical circumference, and all oriented along the East–West axis (sunrise and sunset).
After performing energetic and other environmental measurements, dimensional analyses (length, width, height, circumference, volume, mass), and entering the internal tunnels, Dr. Osmanagić produced an original 25-page scientific research article in English. In his study, Dr. Osmanagić proposes a new definition for these elevations: Šona Lithic Mounds — emphasizing their stone composition and distinct structural characteristics.
