I first wanted to thank you for your assistance with this conference and making me personally feel at home. I also know that since I had to leave early, I won’t be able to share my sentiments on this week. So, if you feel so inclined, here are a few things I would like to say (one thing to note, I do have some Irish in me, so this could go on for a while):
I didn’t really know what to expect when I arrived in Bosnia for this trip. Like many others, I seemed to have been drawn to this conference and showing up alone made me feel a little anxious to say the least. Having delayed flights and travelling for more than 40 hrs didn’t help ease that feeling.
The best thing I received from my time at the conference was a new family! Throughout the entire week, it was uplifting to be part of a group where I could be myself, express myself, and never feel judged or inferior. The free expression of ideas and emotions was abundant and liberating for me. There are things I shared this week with people I have known for less than 3 days that I have not shared with friends who have known me for 30 yrs. Everything from bus ride discussions, to dinners sharing experiences in the tunnels and on the pyramid, to learning to douse and meditations in the evenings. The beauty of 50+ individuals coming together as one was with a similar positive focus is something this world sorely needs.
We were all brought together this week for some reason. A reason we may not know now, but a reason we agreed to before entering this world at this time. I heard numerous thoughts shared, from fixing the pyramid, to activating it, to helping get the word out to the world that history is not what has been rammed down our throats for the past few centuries. In my opinion, the people at this conference made it special. The pyramid was, in my mind, a rallying point. While I personally believe there is much more under the soil in Visoko, to me what really matters is the activation this group received from each other. We came together from different countries, continents, backgrounds, etc. and supported each other no matter what. We are a microcosm of this planet today. We are an example of what can be, if we all come together and don’t give up. Anything is and will be possible. Steps like this are just the beginning. I am personally energized to go out and share my thoughts, ideas, positive attitude with the world.
I am sure my comments are going to be similar to many others, but I couldn’t just say ‘ditto’. One way I have tried to explain this to my family in as simple terms as possible is “WOW”. You are all special and I welcome all of you into my home if you ever need it. If I didn’t get your contact information before I left, Nigel has my info and feel free to harass him for it. I could go on, but I realize you may want to get one last beer or cherry brandy before heading home. I wish all of you safe travels and a blessed remainder of the year. I look forward to continuing our friendships long into the future
