The team of the “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” Foundation was confronted with the serious problem in February 2017. This was after the very cold and heavy winter in December and January and very low temperatures caused the sliding of the clay and earth under large rocks in front of the entrance to the Underground labyrinth Ravne. During the night, one of the rocks fell and destroyed the wall of the Foundation’s Museum building.
After the rockfall, larger threats occurred for a bigger rock to collapse. If this happened complete Museum building would be destroyed and an another house, as well as the closure of the Ravne path considering its size.
Therefore, the Foundation’s team decided to prevent it. The workers dug a channel 60×60 cm deep, mounted the concrete stand and the supporting reinforced wall three meters high. The wall supports two larger rocks, which are also the support for the biggest rock above them. The loose material is inserted between the supporting wall and the rocks acting as the additional stabilization factor.
The water drainage is carried out behind the Museum, but also from the loose material into the concrete tube which directs the water from the other side of the road. In this way the permanent solution is given for the potential hill slide above the Ravne road.
The Foundation has financed and executed the renovation.
