Zahi Hawass, an archaeologist who became head of the Egyptian High Council on Antiquities, issued a statement in June 2006 in which he strongly criticized Osmanagich and his pyramidal hypothesis. As a motivation, Hawass referred to several large blocks extracted by research groups, explaining that “No one can say that these stones were transported by people, because each weighs about 40 tons.” Blocks and a pyramid-like hill were explained by Osmanagich’s “hallucinations” by denying the existence of any pyramids in Bosnia.
