In the shadow of the prehistoric Ravne tunnels (2.5 km of existing tunnels cleared over the past 20 years), ‘Ravne 3’ (where more than 3,300 artifacts have been discovered), and ‘Ravne 6’ (with new discoveries of artifacts and dry-stone walls), archaeological work is continuing in the ‘Ravne 5’ tunnel section.
Research at this entrance to the underground world is also being conducted under the appropriate archaeological research permits issued by the competent cantonal authority, in cooperation with the Visoko Heritage Museum.
Throughout 2026, the expert team of the ‘Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ Foundation, employees of the Foundation and its company ‘Bosnian Pyramids Ltd.’, together with volunteers from a number of countries, have been working diligently to clear the tunnels of loose gravel material.
During August 2026, surveying engineers from the Sarajevo-based company ‘GeoGIS’ completed comprehensive laser scanning of the entire Ravne tunnel network. Over the coming months, they will use the collected data to generate a range of advanced high-tech analyses.
Attached is the base map of the tunnels created by the GeoGIS expert team, together with photographs from the ‘Ravne 5’ tunnels taken in late August and early September 2026.
