Behind one of the best-maintained parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina are daily dedication, hard work, and a genuine love of nature.
Visitors from around the world who come to the Ravne 2 Archaeological and Tourist Park in Visoko regularly notice the same things: beautifully maintained green spaces, spotless walking paths, carefully tended flower gardens, inviting relaxation areas, and a remarkable harmony between nature and the facilities developed over the years by the Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation.
Yet few visitors stop to consider how much daily work is required to keep a park covering approximately 100,000 square meters looking beautiful throughout all twelve months of the year.
The answer is simple: none of this happens by itself.
Behind every carefully maintained corner are the hardworking members of the Foundation’s maintenance team, who carry out their responsibilities with dedication, patience, and exceptional attention to detail.
During spring and summer, the work includes regular lawn mowing, tending flower beds, trimming vegetation, maintaining pathways and access roads, cleaning drainage channels, removing weeds, and caring for trees, ornamental plants, and landscaped areas.
Autumn brings entirely new challenges. Enormous quantities of fallen leaves must be collected, pathways, roofs, and gutters cleaned, branches removed, and the entire park prepared for the colder months ahead.
Even winter does not bring the work to a halt. Infrastructure maintenance, cleaning, and protection of park facilities continue to ensure that everything remains in excellent condition for visitors and the upcoming tourist season.
One of the greatest challenges is the park’s demanding terrain.
Ravne 2 is not a flat urban park that can be maintained simply with machinery. Its slopes, wooded areas, streams, drainage channels, stone-lined features, pathways, and numerous green oases require extensive physical labor, often in difficult-to-reach locations.
The photographs accompanying this article reveal just a small part of that daily effort: cleaning drainage channels, removing branches and leaves, maintaining roofs and gutters, clearing slopes, repairing pathways, and carefully tending the flower gardens.
These activities rarely appear in tourist brochures, yet without them, the beauty for which Ravne 2 Park has become recognized would not be possible.
A Park Maintained Through the Foundation’s Own Resources
For years, the Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation has invested substantial financial resources in maintaining, improving, and developing this unique destination.
Annual maintenance costs reach approximately 100,000 BAM (50,000 euros), illustrating the scale of the commitment required to preserve the park’s appearance and functionality.
Ravne 2 is much more than a tourist attraction. It is a place for gathering, relaxation, recreation, art, education, and spiritual tranquility.
It is a space where lectures, concerts, festivals, and community events take place, but also somewhere visitors can simply reconnect with nature and enjoy moments of peace.
This is precisely why the Foundation maintains high standards of cleanliness, landscaping, environmental care, and overall park management.
Our Greatest Appreciation Goes to Our Workers
When visitors praise the beauty of Ravne 2 Park, that recognition belongs first and foremost to the people who maintain it every single day.
Their work begins long before the first tourists arrive. It often continues under the hot summer sun, in the rain, during cold weather, and across challenging terrain.
Their efforts may rarely attract public attention, but the results are visible everywhere.
For this reason, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to all our dedicated workers, employees, and collaborators whose commitment has helped make Ravne 2 Park a source of pride for Visoko and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is easy to admire a beautifully maintained park. It is much harder to keep it that way, day after day, year after year.
Our Foundation does more than develop tourist attractions. It nurtures the landscape, protects the natural environment, and demonstrates how responsible management, long-term investment, and dedicated work can create an exceptional destination enjoyed by both local residents and international visitors.
Ravne 2 Park is not beautiful by accident. Its beauty is the result of daily effort, discipline, dedication, and love for nature.
And that is why it remains clean, welcoming, and beautiful — in summer and in winter.
