The Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation, welcomes the strategic plans for tourist development within the B&H Federation, which lists the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids as one of the most preferred tourist destinations in the country.
Since the beginning of geo-archaeological works in Visoko (3005-2008), nearly 500,000 tourists visited the location of the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids (Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, Moon, tumulus in Gornje Vratnice and a complex of underground tunnels (Ravne). The largest number of visitors was recorded in 2006, but that number is bisected now as the Federal Ministry of Culture prohibited the excavations on the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun.
The Foundation is using this opportunity to ask the Federal Ministry of Culture and the State Committee for the Protection of the National Monuments to eliminate the prohibition of works in the lower parts of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, which is one of the most attractive locations to researchers and tourists.
We would like to remind that the world’s famous archaeologist and geologists, who participated at the First International Scientific Conference on the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids, recommended that the research on this pyramid should accelerate.
Additionally, the scientific analyses of the stone blocks from the Pyramid of the Sun indicate that they are composed of the sturdy concrete material, which is a sensational discovery as this concrete predates the Roman concrete. With intensive work, the development of the archaeological tourism in B&H will also accelerate and will tremendously contribute to the economic recovery of this country.
