The ‘Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ Foundation is pleased to announce to the public that it acquired four new lots on the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun during August 2018. One of the lots is situated at the foot of the pyramid’s northern side, while the remaining three lots lie at the foot of its eastern side.
When the land survey work was completed, a team of the Foundation’s employees, together with a crew of volunteers from this year’s fifth shift, cleared the lots. The lot on the northern side is adjacent to a lot already in the Foundation’s possession and where an info shed has been erected. Close to half of an acre of land was mainly overgrown with bush, and weed, vines, brush, briers and other wild vegetation. Large pines and oaks will be preserved and will not be removed from the plot.
Once the clearing is complete, the Foundation plans to open archaeological trench pursuant to existing cantonal permits.
The lots on the eastern side comprise a meadow, an orchard and a patch of forest. Future archaeological probes will be drilled in such a way to ensure preservation of valuable vegetation.
The Foundation plans to combine all these lots into a single exploration and tourist complex.
