A team of eight experts in archaeology from Malaysia are digging carefully and studying the archaeological probe located at the foot on the northern side of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. The team of experts, composed of archaeologists and geologists, is led by Dr. Stephen Chia.
Dr. Stephen Chia is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Archaeological Research Malaysia, University Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang. He had conducted numerous archaeological research and conservation works in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. He had also conducted several archaeological training courses for Museums in Malaysia and has been a resource person for SPAFA and UNESCO training courses in Thailand and Angkor Wat. His current research work covers studies on Prehistoric Trade, Exchange and Culture Contact between Bukit Tengkorak and other sites in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region, archaeological research in Bukit Sarang, Ulu Kakus, Sarawak, and archaeological conservation in Malaysia.
Discoveer of the Bosnian Pyramids dr.sci. Sam Semir Osmanagich had a lecture at the USM University in 2006 when he informed Malaysian colleagues about his discovery.
During the past few days in June the team of experts from Malaysia was completing an archaeological field survey of the area where the man-made concrete blocks of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun have been unearthed. The main work and analysis mainly consists of describing, measuring, recording, labeling, drawing and photographing the archaeological finds and context. The intent of the experts is to prepare a 3-dimensional reconstruction of this particular section of the pyramid and to publish afterwards a scientific paper related to the investigation.
While many members of the Bosnian archaeological establishment still bury their heads in the sand and refuse to come to this site, leading experts in the field of archaeology from other countries continue to reach Visoko in order to study world’s biggest pyramids which the American scientist Paul von Ward recently has defined as “one of the most important archaeological locations in the world”.
